Level 2 Tracker options
Two SIM-based GPS trackers, both fitted inside the cooler and powered from it. Both feed the same dashboard. They differ in what they can still report once the power goes, and in whether they measure temperature.
The question that decides it
Both trackers know the moment a cooler loses power. The difference is what happens
next. The basic tracker can report for about 20 minutes. The advanced tracker carries a
backup battery and keeps reporting for a few hours, which is what lets it follow a
cooler that is unplugged and carried away. For chocolate, the advanced tracker can also
measure the temperature inside the cooler.
Side by side
Location accuracy is quoted for open sky. Inside a shop and inside a cooler, both
trackers will be less precise. Measuring that in real outlets is one of the things
the pilot is for.
Fitting
- Fitted out of sight inside the cooler, by a trained technician
- Powered from the cooler's own supply, so no batteries to change
- Carries its own SIM, so it needs nothing from the shop
- Paired to the cooler's QR in the same visit (Screen 1)
Rollout path
- Pilot: 5 to 10 coolers already in Chennai outlets, fitted in the shop
- Rollout: 500 to 1,000 coolers if the pilot delivers
- New coolers: tracker fitted and QR paired at the factory
A suggestion for the pilot
Fit half the pilot coolers with each tracker. A few weeks of real outlets would show
whether the temperature readings and the longer battery change what Nestlé acts
on, so the choice for 500 to 1,000 coolers is made on evidence rather than on a spec
sheet.
